Description

Pattern

Serapi Crimson is a red washable rug with a blue medallion and a sky-blue border.

The medallion is built in layers: a coral rosette at the center, a deep blue field around it, then a crimson shoulder stepped out to points, then ivory corner panels. The wide sky-blue border carries stylised flowers and hooked leaves the whole way round.

There are three separate blues in this rug: the ink of the inner field, the mid blue of the medallion frame, and the pale sky of the border. They are what stops the red from taking over.

Color

Crimson and coral in the field, ink and sky blue in the medallion and border, ivory in the corners.

Brass & Terracotta & Cream

Warm wood, brass and terracotta bring heat this rug's own pale ground softens.

Matte Black & Cream & Linen

Cream and linen hold this rug's warmth, with matte black kept to a small accent.

  • Not a patterned sofa. This rug is the pattern

On dark wood the crimson deepens and the sky border glows. On pale floors the whole rug reads brighter and more graphic.

Where it works

  • Living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, entryways
  • Flat weave: lies flat, layers over jute or wool
  • 5 mm: clears a door, sits over underfloor heating
  • 70% cotton to breathe, 30% polyester to hold the weave through a wash
  • Non-slip backing woven in, not glued on
  • Enough body that the corners stay down
  • 34 sizes and four shapes, cut to order

Why Rugember®

We are not a brand that buys rugs.

Four generations, one throughline: it started with a kilim, hand-woven in Central Anatolia. Today every Rugember is woven on our own machines in Istanbul, cut to the size you choose, and finished by hand.

In numbers

4Generations

34Sizes

The backing is part of the rug.

Not a pad you lay underneath, and not a cover you clip on. The non-slip backing is bonded to the weave itself, so there is nothing to slip, peel or replace.

Cut to your measurement.

Every pattern, four shapes, thirty-four stock sizes. If none of them is your room, we cut the same weave to the measurement you give us.

Woven, then finished by hand.

The loom does the weaving. The edges, the binding and the final check are done by a person. That is also why a small tolerance in size is normal rather than a fault.

Low pile, by decision.

A low, dense weave is what lets a rug go into a drum and come out lying flat again. It is a construction choice, not a style one.

The long version Four generations, one Istanbul mill, a rug to remember.

I've owned plenty of real Persian rugs

I have owned a lot of genuine Persian rugs over the years. You honestly could not tell the difference here, except that this one washes. Not that I've washed it yet. The funny part is the colour doesn't quite come together in my kitchen, but I love it far too much to send it back, so now I'm finding somewhere else for it...

The kitchen has wooden floors and we have an elderly dog, so washable and non slip made this the perfect rug. I've been pleased enough to buy 3 in the end.
